Community Guidelines & Content Standards

Effective Date: August 7, 2026. The Times Patriot is committed to maintaining a trustworthy, respectful, and safe public forum for news, journalism, opinion, and public discourse. These Community Guidelines set clear expectations for all creators, journalists, commentators, and readers across our digital ecosystem.

By publishing articles, submitting comments, replying to user threads, or filing content moderation reports on The Times Patriot, you explicitly agree to follow these Community Guidelines in conjunction with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. Mission, Values & Platform Safety Pillars

Modeled after global digital community standards—including YouTube's Community Guidelines, Facebook's Community Standards, and Instagram's Safety Principles—our platform balances vibrant freedom of expression with rigorous standards against online harm. We anchor our community standards on five foundational pillars:

• Safety: Protecting readers and contributors from physical harm, exploitation, coercion, threats, and harassment.
• Voice: Fostering civic debate, journalism, and diverse perspectives while prohibiting harmful deception.
• Dignity: Ensuring all individuals are treated with respect, free from hate speech, harassment, or dehumanizing abuse.
• Privacy: Protecting personal information, intimate data, and individual confidentiality across all regions.
• Authenticity: Eliminating spam, synthetic fraud, deepfakes, impersonation, and coordinated manipulation.

2. Prohibited Content & Safety Rules

The following categories of content and behavior are strictly prohibited across articles, comments, author profiles, and user interactions. Violations result in warning strikes, content removal, account suspension, or permanent banning.

2.1 Violence, Incitement & Dangerous Organizations

We strictly prohibit content that encourages, glorifies, or threatens real-world violence.

• Incitement to Violence: Direct or indirect threats of physical violence against individuals, public officials, communities, or institutions.
• Terrorism & Extremism: Praise, promotion, recruitment, or financing for terrorist organizations, violent extremist groups, or hate groups.
• Dangerous Goods & Illegal Acts: Instructions or facilitation for manufacturing weapons, explosive devices, illicit substances, or illegal acts.

2.2 Hate Speech, Discrimination & Harassment

We do not tolerate attack or dehumanization targeting individuals or groups based on protected characteristics.

• Protected Characteristics: Race, ethnicity, caste, national origin, religion, political belief, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or veteran status.
• Targeted Harassment & Bullying: Persistent unwelcome attention, malicious insults, dox threats, or encouraging brigading against any person.
• Defamation & Malicious Attacks: Knowingly false statements intended to damage an individual's personal or professional reputation.

2.3 Misinformation, Synthetic Media & AI Deepfakes

As a news and journalism platform, editorial integrity and fact-based reporting are paramount.

• Harmful Disinformation: Fabricated news stories designed to manipulate elections, undermine public health emergencies, cause panic, or incite civil unrest.
• Unlabeled Synthetic Media (Deepfakes): AI-generated or manipulated audio, video, or imagery presented as authentic non-fictional events without clear, prominent disclosure.
• Deceptive Headlines & Clickbait: Deceptive titles that intentionally misrepresent article body facts.

2.4 Child Safety & Exploitation (CSAM Zero Tolerance)

The Times Patriot maintains an absolute, uncompromising zero-tolerance policy regarding child endangerment.

• CSAM Prohibition: Possession, distribution, solicitation, or referencing of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSAE) is immediately blocked.
• Mandatory Reporting: All identified instances are automatically submitted to global law enforcement authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the CyberCrime Portal of India, and European Union law enforcement agencies (INHOPE/Europol).

2.5 Sexual Content, Nudity & Non-Consensual Imagery

• Explicit pornography, sexually explicit media, and graphic sexual acts are forbidden.
• Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII / "revenge porn") is strictly prohibited and subject to immediate takedown and legal reporting.

2.6 Suicide, Self-Harm & Eating Disorders

Content that promotes, encourages, glorifies, or provides instructions for self-harm, suicide, or severe eating disorders is prohibited. We provide localized emergency helpline links for users expressing distress.

2.7 Spam, Scams & Impersonation

• Inauthentic Behavior: Automated bots, click farms, mass spam posting, or artificial manipulation of likes/views.
• Financial Scams & Phishing: Fraudulent crypto schemes, phishing URLs, malicious software links, or deceptive monetary requests.
• Impersonation: Pretending to be another journalist, media organization, celebrity, public official, or community member.

2.8 Intellectual Property & DMCA Compliance

Authors must hold the copyright or necessary commercial license for all articles, cover images, and multimedia uploaded. Plagiarism or unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted text without fair-use attribution is prohibited.

3. Global Statutory Compliance & International Frameworks

To ensure compliance across regional laws where our readers and contributors reside, The Times Patriot strictly enforces regional statutory requirements:

3.1 India Compliance (IT Rules 2021 & DPDP Act 2023)

In compliance with India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS):

• We maintain a dedicated Grievance Officer and grievance redressal process with structured acknowledgment within 24 hours and resolution within 15 days.
• We strictly prohibit content endangering the sovereignty, unity, integrity, defense, or security of India, public order, or friendly relations with foreign states.
• Full adherence to the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023 for data processing and user consent.

3.2 European Union Compliance (DSA 2024 & GDPR)

In accordance with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) and GDPR:

• Transparent notice-and-action mechanisms allowing any EU citizen to flag illegal content.
• Clear statement of reasons provided when moderation actions or account restrictions are applied.
• Data subject rights including the Right to be Forgotten and explicit consent controls.

3.3 United States Compliance (Section 230, DMCA & COPPA)

Under US law:

• Notice-and-takedown protocol under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
• Full compliance with Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) forbidding collection of personal data from minors under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
• Protection under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act while upholding proactive moderation for platform safety.

3.4 Canada Compliance (Online Harms Framework)

Alignment with Canadian federal online harms standards, protecting users against non-consensual content, online hate speech, and harassment under the Criminal Code of Canada.

3.5 China & East Asia Regulatory Compliance

In accordance with international network governance guidelines and the Cybersecurity Law of the PRC, we prohibit unlawful rumors, cyber violence, or organized subversion targeting regional network security.

3.6 Rest of World & Universal Human Rights

Where local laws vary, The Times Patriot upholds the principles of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ensuring universal standards of protection against hate, violence, and unlawful censorship.

4. Content Moderation, Reporting & Appeals

Our moderation system combines community reporting, automated AI text/image filtering, and human review teams:

• Flagging Content: Readers can report any article or comment using the "Report" button in the article view or comment thread.
• Review & Resolution: All reports are reviewed by our moderation desk within 24 to 72 hours (and prioritized immediately for high-risk safety flags).
• Strike Policy: First-time minor offenses receive a warning. Repeated violations result in a 7-day suspension or permanent account ban.
• Appeals Process: Users whose content has been removed or accounts restricted may appeal by emailing appeals@thetimespatriot.com with details of the decision.

5. Periodic Updates, Revisions & Future Amendments

Important Notice Regarding Policy Updates: To adapt to changing legal regulations globally, advancements in generative AI technology, and evolving social platform safety norms, The Times Patriot reserves the right to modify, amend, update, or replace these Community Guidelines at any time at our sole discretion.

Updated versions will be posted directly to this page with an updated "Effective Date". Continued access or use of our platform, commenting tools, article publisher, or community features following the posting of modifications constitutes full acceptance of the updated standards.
